2025 Resolutions

New Year Resolutions are easy to make - and even easier to break! Committing to a new goal or ambition takes energy and perseverance, and that can be hard to maintain. We’ve looked back on our travel adventures from 2024 to determine some realistic resolutions for 2025 that will make our travel experiences more enjoyable and productive in the coming year. You might want to consider these as well:

Getting in Shape!

Probably the most common resolution is to drop a little weight. We all tend to put on a few pounds during the holiday season, and visiting the European Christmas Markets certainly didn’t help! We have found that weight loss helps increase our stamina and endurance. This past summer, visiting the Isle of Skye, we decided to forgo the final, arduous assent to the top of the rock formation, Old Man of Stor. Maybe if we had fewer pounds weighing us down, we might have met the challenge. We’re resolving to add more cardiovascular activity to our daily routine - and putting aside the Christmas cookies!

Be Selective!

An issue we have in common with fellow travelers is biting off more than we can chew. Sometimes we try to pack too much into a limited time frame. During our last trip, we visited six cities in four different countries with ten train rides in a span of fifteen days. We both agreed that our itinerary was a little too ambitious. Resolve to focus on specific places that are primary to your travel goals with the intention on returning one day.

Give it a rest!

This year we are resolving to give ourselves more time to relax while traveling. Filming our adventures takes a lot of effort and we often find ourselves on our laptop longer than anticipated. Consequently, we sometimes miss out on the little pleasures that travel brings, like sipping wine while sitting in a piazza or lingering on a mountain top to enjoy the view. We are resolving to take a vacation from our vacation and spend time away from the camera and laptop to simply enjoy the reasons we started to travel in the first place - to experience the beauty and diversity this world has to offer!
